Pocket Options

Pockets made from clear polypropylene or matt Tuftex® can be ultrasonically welded to most of the Polyproportunities® range. The weld creates a strong bond and the ribbed finish is both decorative and helps resist tearing.

  • Pockets to hold business cards can be manufactured in clear polypropylene or matt Tuftex®.
  • Open to the top or side they can be welded to most products. To take card size 90mm x 54mm.
  • Diagonal pockets made from Tuftex® are strong and flexible. The cutouts help prevent tearing whilst the flexibility of the material allows the pockets to create a slight gusset. Suitable for all binders and many folders, diagonal pockets are 200mm high by 170mm wide.
  • Vertical pockets can be welded to all binders and most folders and files creating an ideal storage place for loose papers. Manufactured in Tuftex®, the shaped edge helps resist tearing whilst the flexibility gives the pockets a slight capacity. A4 vertical pockets 100m wide and full depth. A5 vertical pockets 80mm wide and full depth.
  • Label pockets can be welded on many of the products in the Polyproportunities® range. They can be put on the spines of binders and boxes and in wraparound form on folders and smaller products to allow for titling on both front and spine. Label pockets can be manufactured in non-reflective Tuftex® or gloss polypropylene. Wraparound pockets can only be made of Tuftex®.

Decoration Options

Silk Screen Printing

Silk Screen Printing is the best method of printing onto polypropylene. Screen process inks are generally fairly opaque and can be mixed to match most Pantone colours when printing onto white or light coloured materials.

UV inks are used for all our silk screen printing. They give a fine gloss effect print and are very good for halftones.

Foil Blocking

Foil Blocking is used when a bright metallic gold or silver is required. Silk screen gold or silver gives a matt effect.

Foil blocking gives a bright metallic finish and with careful designs, fine detail can be achieved. Blocking and screening can be combined to create stunning results.

You cannot foil block a halftone and try not to mix large solid areas with fine detail - it will need two operations. Large solid print needs time and a fast print time. Solid areas of print will also cause some indentation and distortion of the polypropylene.

Colours

All products can be enhanced by good designs and strong colours. UV inks can match to all pantone and corporate colours when printing onto white material.

Halftones

Because of the process of screening we cannot achieve the dot count available to litho print, therefore screened halftones are slightly coarser. Ideally we require a dot set at 65lpi and a frequency (angle) of 52 degrees. For best results between 20% and 70%.

Close Register

Most plastic materials will shrink and stretch when subjected to heat. Drying UV inks with ultraviolet light causes the plastic to move. Close register over a large area can therefore be a problem, but small print areas can usually be achieved with great accuracy.

Under Pinning

All coloured polypropylene will change the ink colour you specify. To overcome this, we can print an underpin of white first. This process will increase the cost of printing and may cause registration problems.

Varnish

UV varish can act as a discreet house image or can be used as a decoration with multiple images repeated. Darker colours of polypropylene show varnish particularly well.

Translucency

Some colours in polypropylene can be very transulcent, allowing print on one side to show through to the other side. Exceptional care should be taken with frosted material. The thicker the material the less pronounced this effect becomes.

The problem can be greatly helped with thinner materials being millmade with extra dense pigment.
